1. Come Prepared
There is a list of documents that you must bring to your visa interview. Check the US Embassy website to make sure you have all the required documents. Keep in mind that you definitely need to bring: your passport, your I-20 form, your financial documents, and your SEVIS I-901 fee receipt.

2. Know your Academic Program and Goals
You should be able to explain why you chose IEC and why you chose Orange Coast college. You can say something like, “IEC has a great English program that will give me automatic admission to OCC where I want to study film”. Before your interview, do some research about your school and the programs offered at the school. This will show that you are serious about your program and school.

3. Show ties to your home country
Visa officers want to know that you will be returning to your home country after the completion of your program. Ties to your home country can be things like property, home leases, contracts, or deeds. It can be bank accounts or even family businesses. Anything that shows that after OCC you plan to return to your home country. Your plans can change later, but at your visa interview, you want to show that ultimately you are planning to head back home.

4. Do not memorize a script
Officers don’t want to see that you have practiced or overworked what you are going to say. They want to know that you are natural and feel confident in what you are saying. So come prepared, but don’t memorize a script!
