Getting around Orange County
Getting Around Exploring everything Southern California has to offer is easy when you live in Orange County! Thanks to the Orange County Transport Authority, residents have access to buses, metros, ride-sharing, bikes, and taxis. Well-developed apps and websites make it easy to plan your trip within or outside of Orange County. Click here for the apps that will help you get around in Orange County:
OC Bus
Most students use the local bus system, which is both easy to navigate and affordable. Its 77 bus routes can be used with either a 30-day pass or by paying $1.75 per ride. Click here to learn about the bus routes and how to obtain an OC Bus pass.
Metrolink
Students heading outside of Orange County take advantage of the Metrolink, which is a system of eight metro lines that service Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino. (Click here for a map of Metrolink’s eight lines.) Students may pay for one trip or for 7-day or 30-day passes: click here to learn more about the pricing, and the lines, and to view the schedules.
Biking
The year-round beautiful weather in Orange County, combined with the area’s over 1,000 miles of bikeways, make OC a perfect place to bike! Click here to view a map of OC’s bike paths, which included paved roads, “bike only” lanes, and off-road trails.
Taxis/Uber/Lyft
Catching a ride has never been easier thanks to apps such as Uber and Lyft. With these companies, students can request a safe and affordable ride at any time simply by using an app on their smartphone. Service is the number one priority for these companies, so enjoy the ride and the friendly driver (and practice English along the way)! Of course, students can also grab a cab: taxis are easy to find in the commercial districts of OC cities.
